MICHAEL
J. FENLON

Michael Fenlon has ten years of experience serving as
a consultant to senior management in a variety of industries.
He works in the areas of leadership and senior team
development, strategy formulation and implementation;
organizational assessment, diagnosis and change management;
organization design; and culture change. His projects
have included work in merger integration and organization
change related to the implementation of enterprise resource
planning systems. He has specialized expertise in executive
leadership development, and in designing and leading
global executive education initiatives as vehicles for
accelerated strategic change. He frequently directs
off-site senior team retreats and workshops.
Dr. Fenlon's research has focused on leadership development
and the impact of management practices on commitment
and innovation. Prior to joining the Executive Education
faculty, he served as a principal of his own consulting
practice and most recently as a Principal Consultant
with Price Waterhouse LLP.
Dr. Fenlon's client experience includes work with American
Express, AT&T, CPC International, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu,
Ericsson, Equitable, GKN, Hoffmann-La Roche, NationsBank,
Kmart, The National Governors' Association of the United
States, Pfizer, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation,
Storage Technology Corporation, Sun Microsystems, VNS,
United States Customs Service, and work on the merger
between Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. He also
serves on the board of advisors of a start-up incubator
in New York City.
Professor Fenlon received his Ph.D. and three master's
degrees from Columbia University, and his B.A. from
the University of Wisconsin. He serves as the faculty
director of the Leadership Development Program, the
Fundamentals of Management: Highlights from Columbia's
Core MBA Curriculum, and is a Director of the Columbia
Senior Executive Program. He has also served as a faculty
member in Executive Programs at the John F. Kennedy
School of Government at Harvard University and is an
Adjunct Professor in the Department of Leadership and
Organization at Teacher's College, Columbia University.
